starstarstarstarstar Bitstamp Ltd has been temporarily registered in the UK under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations of 2017 as a cryptoasset business until 9 July 2021, pending the determination of our application by the Financial Conduct Authority.

starstarstarstarstar For being the longest standing exchange. They lack a bit. First; they are into freezing accounts on a whim, and then it takes extra-ordinary effort to get a valid account re-instated. Second many banks know the smell of Bitstamp. So when they catch a wiff, the bank will freeze and TERMINATE your account without warning once they realize you are doing ACH transfers to the platform. Bitstamp is happy to take advantage of that, as it only adds frozen liquidity to their nodes. I have been through the KYC process, I filed my taxes this year, and last year too, BITSTAMP was given copies of my tax returns. They decided without warning, and without recent use to terminate my account and liquidate the BCH I was holding there. As of yet they still don't seem to know the way back to my bank account even after I provided them with the details of my account that matches my name. They sure know how to credit when coming in from the same account but they just don't know how to send the money back. I will update this when I get my money back. NO REASON that I can see to have the account closed. I have accounts on several other exchanges, (NOT COINBASE) and with high limits...SO I don't know what the issue is. MY guess is that it has to do with licensing that expired on June 9th 2021. ?? Just a guess.

starstarstarstarstar My wife started some business with Bitstamp years ago. Thank God not huge amounts, but now her account is unaccesible, right after bitcoin boosted up. Avoid these scammers and save your money and stress. Very dodgy company!!!

starstarstarstarstar Without any reason i cant log in and my last known email was unknown.
i wrot to the support and got this answer:
Support:
"Your account has been terminated. Once the account is terminated, you can no longer log in to your account, you cannot regain access to it, the account cannot be reactivated, and you cannot open a new account. Please provide us with your bank information by filling out the form below so that we can send your funds to your bank"
Me:
"i have absolutely no idea why you terminated my account.
My last transfer was 1 year ago and i never done anything illegal or something like that.
Whatever, send my money to my bank account and i will open an account at another trading company."
support:
"Dear Adrian,
Thank you for getting back to us.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any further information on the reasons leading to the termination of your account due to our internal policies.
I have forwarded your banking details to the payments department and urged them to return the funds to your bank account in the shortest time possible.
I remain available for any other questions you may have."
I know that there was over 1000€ on my account and they sent me 120€.
That is nothing else than scam!
if i dont get a fast respons i will sue them!

starstarstarstarstar I was about 3 years at Bitstamp. - And I also was at Bittrex for this time. - Bittrex only wanted to know ONCE the KYC process, and never had blocked my money. - In the same time BITSTAMP has locked my money three times and always wanted to have new KYC information, which was the same, as they aleady had from me. - As Bitstamp has asked me some month ago for the last time for KYC (otherwise it would block outgoing transfers and withdraws of any kind), I sent it to them, but needed to wait 3 or 4 weeks without an answer. - Because I had no coins and no fiat there, I finally closed the account at Bitstamp and will never return there! (P.S.: 3 days afer I have closed my account, I have got a message via email that I now should take a look at my conversation within the online account of them. - I just laughed and deleted the mail! - Never, never again I will visit this "black sheep"!)

starstarstarstarstar Bitstamp Scam: Ripping off customers with no explanation
Without giving any further explanation Bitstamp closed my account after years of servive and decided to keep the entire balance with reference to "administrative costs".
The keep refusing to clearly specify whitch rules or regulations I seem to have brocken according to their assesment.

starstarstarstarstar Long time customer since 2013 that used the account solely for trading crypto pairs.
Account terminated suddenly as others have experienced lately.
Fleeced for 75 Euro in "fees" for the joy of having my account terminated.
Find a different exchange.

starstarstarstarstar This is a list of questions that they want me to answer before allowing any other transactions; like they really care:
We will have to kindly ask you to help us better understand the nature of your relationship with Bitstamp. In order to do so, we require that an additional KYC (know your customer) procedure is completed before we can proceed with processing of your future withdrawal requests.
We kindly ask you to send us a high resolution image of both pages of your international passport and answer the following KYC questionnaire:
1. What is your current occupation?
2. The purpose of trading on Bitstamp? Please describe in as much detail as possible how do you use your trading account.
3. What is the origin of the deposited Bitcoins? If mining, please specify your hardware specifications and submit a receipt or an invoice for your mining equipment.
4. What are your future plans and activities planned on our exchange?
5. Which bank(s) do you use? Please provide the complete address and SWIFT code.
6. Estimated amount that you would be depositing/withdrawing to/from your Bitstamp account per month (in USD and BTC)?
We kindly ask you to submit your answers and documents in a reply to this ticket.

starstarstarstarstar Don't you know that US gov doing Everything in its power (not laws) to stop cryptos?
Bitstamp is Not European exchange, never was in reality.
Shareholders were from US, servers always were in US, wallet "provider" is just another US scam with own tricks and scams plus to what Bitstamp is doing itself.
On top of that they've signed up with blockchain spies to track your ops for life.
This exchange always was an agent for uncle Sam and all its spying, customer "rights" and "service" comes from U.S. traditions not Europe, i.e. no rights.

starstarstarstarstar For the last few years, Bitstamp has hiding behind the KYC and their “right to terminate accounts” excuse, to literally keep their customer’s funds. Stay away from this exchange.

starstarstarstarstar Really insecure login with only 2 credentials and even this way your log in experience will be incredible bad and slow. You can even cheat their sign up by not providing a residence proof and even buy cryptos but when you want to retrieve your money they will freeze your account and ask for more information. So in my opinion there are other crypto sites more trustful and developed than this one!

starstarstarstarstar My ticket number: TICKET #BIT-272090
I created an account on Bitstamp to buy bitcoin more cheaply and transferred $ 117,300 in money.
They wanted documents to fund the money, so I sent them. During that time the price of bitcoin has gone up and I'm in the way of major damage.
I want my problem resolved and my money returned or released on my account.
The process is running very slowly and they haven't given me a turn. This situation is very stressful for me. I reviewed internet review sites and found that there were more than one people with such problems. This situation scares me. Because I've never made this money easy, I've given it away for years. I hope they solve my problem soon.
