UpdateIn business since end of 2007, VirWox is today the the leading independent exchange for trading virtual currencies, both in terms number of users (about 100,000), and trading volume (2012: 29 million Euro / 38 million US$).
Currencies traded are Linden Dollars (the virtual currency used in Second Life), Avination's C$, and the Open Metaverse Currency (OMC). In April 2011, RED PAY LINE started accepting Bitcoin and enabled to trade bitcoins for Linden Dollars (both ways), which are in turn convertible to EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, and the other virtual currencies traded on VirWoX.
Other payment methods (deposit and withdrawal) include PayPal, Credit/Debit Cards via Skrill/Moneybookers, NETELLER, paysafecard, Ukash, SOFORTbanking, and bank transfers.
VirWox is run by the company Virtual World Services GmbH, which is located in Austria. The service is available in five languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian).

should be 0 stars.. first off you lose about $10 through fees and shit and then they try to make you wait 48 hours for a transaction. they disabled my account within 30 mins with no explanation. hopefully paypal can help me get my money back.. Is amazing how your money can go up in smoke due to bastards like virwox.

It seems to work completely fine for me. I've been using it since the beginning of 2014 and everything works as expected. I just withdrew some bitcoin to a separate offline wallet a moment ago for added security. The transaction went smoothly, but as always it takes some time. I wonder if some people expect Bitcoin transactions to happen instantaneously and then panic.

You guys are just not reading PayPal and VirWox rules and terms. I read all of the terms and rules of both organizations, they work together if you follow the rules EXACTLY... There is NO scam, just misuse by ignoring terms and rules.
PayPal. And bitcoin should never be directly paired either way no matter what, no excuses. PayPal had to eat some losses, due to people getting their money, then reversing there credit card charges. Those people made money twice...PayPal said.Thats it.
Read both organization terms and rules.

Ok. I understand that Virwox has high fees and that's fine...but lately they've been taking over 24 hours to process a simple transaction! I just want some bitcoins....I've been a verified member for years now, and suddenly...my payments won't work! What is going on? I am trying to make an accounnt on circle and coinbase now because of this nonsense! You're not the only ones in town virwox...help your memebers for christ sake or we're going somewhere else!

Доброго времени суток, рекомендую дочитать до конца! Внес на дипозит через visa - 10$ минимальный возможный там транзакция, что бы затем обменять на BTC, но перед этим нужно произвести следующие обмены с $ -> SSL -> BTC. Что делает большие комиссии. После всех манипуляций я получил 0.0075 ВТС = 5.79 $ в эквиваленте на тот момент. Затем сделал заявку на вывод ВТС с дипозита на кошелек биткойна. Это был мой первый опыт с VirWox, и мне пришлось ждать обработки более суток моей заявки так как это придусмотрено политикой безопасности VirWox. До конца не верил что транзакция завершится успешно, учитывая ваши мнения сдесь. Благодарю VirWox! Жилаю всем удачи!

I signed up with Virwox. Purchased the SLL thing and then converted to bitcoin. had to wait 24 hours to cash out my btc. Then i got the email that my account is closed due to high risk. This is B.S. because i have great standing with my bank, credit card and paypal account. It doesn't make sense, b/c i'm low risk. I have no proxy on my computer, i'm U.S. Totally strange company.

Just like the others here, they banned my account after 48 hours of waiting when I wanted to withdraw the BTC I exchanged for.I disputed the transaction and flagged at as fraud using Paypal, and thankfully I got my money back.
In other words, they're scammers; avoid at all costs.

An kind of scam.Especially if you want to process with small amounts of money, you will lose 10/30% of your entry fee, and perhaps you won't be able to use the rest because of an imaginary 'minimum amount to exchange'

By far the worst and most shady virtual currency exchange there is. They solely operate just for people to deposit bitcoin and lose money in fees so they can collect a vault of bitcoins at lower then market value. The only way you could possibly cash out bitcoins on VirWox without getting your account disabled is if you buy bitcoin at a set price and it drops dramatically in value before they process your transaction for a profit. DO NOT give VirWox a try, you will just have your funds tied up for 2-3 days and you won't get anything out of it except your time wasted.

I'm not going to call them outright scammers because I did not lose any money...they refunded me the money I deposited. However, I had done what many people had tried:1) Signup and buy some SLL and pay through Paypal
2) Convert to BTC
3) Send to your wallet...Oops, that is where the journey ends.
Everyone says the same thing - that new accounts get disabled (at least I got my money back!)
The sad thing is...many of the reviews are of people wanting to try out their new wallets and see how this Bitcoin thing works. That is why Bitcoin is set to fail...companies like VirWox are out to make money for themselves and protect themselves...they would never have disabled my account while I was converting from one virtual currency to another...they are happy to take my fees. But as soon as you want to get the money out of their system...they freak out and disable your account
