My only experience with the site so far is a single transaction with davidhockley.After looking at the feedback for the seller showing 100% and over 3000 transactions it gave me confidence to proceed.
I read the negative reviews here after depositing my funds so naturally got a bit concerned.
David was really responsive to messages and helpful, the transaction went through without any problem at all and I would be happy to deal with him again.
I'm just adding this review because I might not have gone ahead if I read the negative ones first but from my experience the site is good.
I didn't have to test out how they handle disputes so can't comment on that part of the service though.

Signup and registration was not smooth. I left negative feedback for one of the chatters as he seemed a bit of an asshole. My purchase of some coins went verysmoothly. All seemed well, i paid, bitcoins were released into my wallet and i left positive feedback for the seller. Next day however, my ip is banned and my coins are gone. THIS SITE IS A SCAM CONTROLLED BY LBC staff. HELP US GET THEM OFFLINE.

I wish I could give this site a 0, new buyers treated like common criminals. Had to jump through a million hoops and still no one would sell to me. I was threatened and abused by a seller, because I left him negative feedback. I seriously horrible experience, tried for a whole day to purchase bitcoins and just ended up upset and frustrated. Went to Bittylicious and managed to purchase coins in a matter of minutes. I will not be using this site again and I will be recommending everyone else against it to.

Purchased bitcoin 3 times successfully using PayPal so far, quick process, reasonable price, never had any issue, a lot of trusted sellers there. Sometimes they are requiring such identity verification though (for fraud prevention), but it's not so intrusive and as a legitimate buyer i don't ever mind :D

LocalBitcoins.com closed my account and confiscated my remaining bitcoins:Have used LocalBitcoins in the past to make my first Bitcoin purchase. Things went smoothly and the seller explained a lot about Bitcoin to me.
However the site has now changed for the worst. If you are a seller you are at increased risk by scammers and LocalBitcoin.com staff. The admins deactivated my account AND took the remaining Bitcoin balance I had on credit. Support has since stopped responding to emails. They gave no reason and no appeal.
Similar stories can be found on bitcointalk.org, reddit, and the web in general.

admin.localbitcoins demanded coins from me. never refunded 2.25btc. Support said it was a fraudulent user. How is this the case? it was directly a .localbitcoins username, only in use by lbc staff. Support not replying to refund request.Beware!

I'm fascinated with Bitcoin technology, and decided to hop in. LocalBitcoin was recommend, and I created an account. I found a local seller, and have made several trades. Seller seemed nice, informative, and gave me a good deal.However, the site seems a little cumbersome, and doesn't have much (newbie) instruction on it. But, once you figure it out, and get a few trades under your belt, it seems more user friendly. It seems a little daunting at first, but I'd say go for it.
Recommendation as a newbie, < 1 month experience, I'd say do your homework, and start small with localbitcoins.com

All my bitcoin disappeared from the account one day. I didn't login to my account or interact with it for like 5 months and one day I went to login and all I had in the wallet was gone. I could find a transaction taking all my coins from one month ago. I contacted support and they said someone stole my password from a phishing site. Come on, I never gave my password in any fake sites, I didn't even did anything related with bitcoins for the last 5 months, how could I have given my password one month ago????It's obvious they have access to any account, if there is no activity on an account for this long they will take your money, then tell you that you gave your password away. lol
Do not use this site, they are the worst scamers ever!
