I don't know why there is so much negativity around this site. I've had nothing but smooth sailing with them. ID verification process I used my Australian passport number and electoral roll details and my account was verified instantly (December 2017). I've not tried to transfer any funds into my trading account, as I am mining crypto currency and getting those coins deposited into my litecoin wallet, which happens almost instantly. When I sell those coins on the exchange that is always instant for me too. Then when cashing out to my bank account (ING) I always get my money the next business day. Sometimes if I do the transfer early enough I get my funds the same day.TLDR; Anybody who is mining and simply wants to cash their coins out to an ING bank account - you will love this service!

Stay way, they are the worse. Never ever respond to support tickets raised. They process some deposits, forget others. Always having issues. No one knows who they are or where they are. They could fold and disappear with peoples money and coins at any time.It's a shame because I preferred to use Coinspot but these dickheads are sleeping on the job also. 3 weeks and still not verified even though I've given them more information about myself than a doctor has on me after a deep deep rectal examination.
If there are any legitimate people out there you could make a killing setting up an exchange in Australia to service Australian customers. But only if you are genuine and want to make a honest living from a business and not want to rip people off like these cowboys.
Oh yeh they are quick to blame the banks, but my deposits have been processed by the bank no problem. So that is a BS excuse!
Why not setup direct transfer like so many other business do? Rather than this bpay shit!
If I could give them minus a million stars as a rating I would. Pathetic bunch of wankers!

Newish user, registered in December, no issues so far.Since I've been on they have only been accepting BPay payments, which is fine for me - though depending on when sent it can take a couple days to clear,
Cant remember how long verification took, though I don't remember it being very long. They use a 3rd party id site and I think it verified pretty much straight away.
I've done a few trades now and found it pretty easy, my fee seems to have dropped to 0.75%. Would be nice if a few other coins were added, but I find this a pretty easy site to use, esp for beginners. AUD trade is handy.

Initiated a withdrawal to ETH and it has taken over a day. I know other users who have waited up to 5 days. The support is non-existent - and the just sit on your money.

I like the trading site, however, careful with price as sometimes, other markets prices is really down, or up, BTC keeps the same price for the whole period. For example, XRP at Bitstamp or Plus 500 (their charts are really similar), down for more than 20 cents, BTC keeps the same price (or just down 1 or 2 cents) for 2 or 3 hours. Really want BTC to have live chart.

One of the best Australian Crypto purchasing websites around, however they have **THE** worst Support and Compliance teams imaginable - (staggeringly bad). Most of the owners have full-time jobs (just not at btcmarkets).

On boarding is terrible, despite providing all required documents. I submitted ID documents a couple days ago yet the status shows pending review. When you try query the status no one responds. It seems like the website operators are part-timers hence no proper dedicated support. I wouldn't recommend using this site especially when you would like to make a quick purchase or even in general - I hear after you get verified it still takes a number of days to transfer funds. Coinbase on boarding was rather good, I was able to purchase cryptocurrency on the day after verifying my self although I was capped at $500 a week (annoying) but still better than not being able to purchase anything....

Unable to change registered email address. Unable to pay funds into my account unless it is using polipay, which apparently my bank will not allow. My verification has been pending for over a month. The fact that you literally are blocked from trading due to having to use a third party organisation that multiple Australian banks have warned against using is simply giving a bad name to the crypto trading marketplace.

There are many things to like when buying and selling cryptos through BTC Markets:-I Applied for an account round about 20th October and although the Identification process took a little bit of time with sending various docs/photos etc. I was finally verified and approved after a confirmation phone call from one of the ladies in the office.
It was actually reassuring that their ID process was so thorough.
It was also reassuring to see that this company is a member of the ADCA.
Within a few days of applying, my account was opened and I BPaid a small deposit from my bank account. The funds arrived at BTC Markets promptly and I made my first purchases that same day.
Also in October in addition to a small portion of a Bitcoin I also bought a few Litecoins, a few Ethereum and some Ripple and was very pleased to see all the volumes hit my account right away.
I have also made a few more small deposits and bought a few more coins in November including Ethereum Classic and BCash and on every occasion the coins were in my account literally within seconds.
I have also made a few sales and also requested the proceeds to be transferred back to my bank and this has also happened promptly on each occasion.
Regarding the fees, I find them very reasonable so I hope that the company will eventually handle a few of the other coins that I trade through other exchanges because those other exchanges have significantly higher fees.
I will be visiting friends in Adelaide over the Christmas period and also attending a family reunion in Sydney at Easter and I will have no hesitation in recommending BTC Markets to any of them who are thinking about getting into cryptos.

Basically the best site to use if you are Australian and just dabbling in crypto trading. I Deposited some ETH from another wallet. Did the transfer at 9pm at night, went to bed and it was there in my BTCmarkets account in the morning. Not sure if it usually takes this long.. Anyway Selling and buying is super easy. Pretty happy with the site. They just need to add a 'page refresh every X seconds' button to their BUY/SELL page. The prices are fair, and the 0.85% fee is a bit expensive but at least they trade in AUD, and allow you to withdraw in AUD unlike coinbase (COINBASE lets you buy in AUD but cant sell - how fkn retarded.. ).

Account was terminated with with a vague reference to their ToS, not enough time was given to withdraw funds - they've essentially stolen my money. Don't sign up with BTCMarkets despite other positive reviews.

I just made my first ever crypto purchase using BTC Markets and it was a great experience. All in all, from sign up to purchase it took less than an hour - I was amazed! Yesterday I signed up to Indendent Reserve which was fine, the sign up process took a few hours for verification but the money I deposited has not yet cleared, and in addition their prices were crazy high this morning anyway.
So I tried BTC markets, the sign up process only took about 10 mins including verfication, and then I followed their advice and made my deposit using Poli for an amount under $500 (I did $200 just to test it). It was cleared within 30 minutes and I made my first purchase - bitcoin cash! I noticed that the independent reserve price has come back down again now, so I will also try that one out when my funds clear and see how it goes.
Anyway I thought I would leave a review because the negative reviews below nearly turned me off, but my experience so far has been good.

This would have to be the most unprofessional site I have come across yet, they cost me thousands of dollars by holding a cash deposit for 4 days just as the market was jumping for Bitcoin. Do not use this site.

Went to log in one day only to find my account was locked with ~$7000 in it. Contacted support and they said they've reviewed and decided to close my account as part of an ongoing "risk management" strategy. I was told I was sent a 30-day notice email which I never received.Was told my account would be unlocked for 48 hours so I could remove my funds. I tried but the website was so broken all I got was error messages when I tried to sell my bitcoin.
After less that 24 hours my account has been locked again and support have stop answering my emails.
I've just lost $7000 to this shady company.
No names on emails and the tone is extremely rude.
Do not deal with these guys whatever you do.

I have been waiting for a long time just to get review of my ID verification. Also had problem with the two factor authentification and log in. Contacted support several times, not even a single answer.
