UpdateIn business since end of 2007, VirWox is today the the leading independent exchange for trading virtual currencies, both in terms number of users (about 100,000), and trading volume (2012: 29 million Euro / 38 million US$).
Currencies traded are Linden Dollars (the virtual currency used in Second Life), Avination's C$, and the Open Metaverse Currency (OMC). In April 2011, RED PAY LINE started accepting Bitcoin and enabled to trade bitcoins for Linden Dollars (both ways), which are in turn convertible to EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, and the other virtual currencies traded on VirWoX.
Other payment methods (deposit and withdrawal) include PayPal, Credit/Debit Cards via Skrill/Moneybookers, NETELLER, paysafecard, Ukash, SOFORTbanking, and bank transfers.
VirWox is run by the company Virtual World Services GmbH, which is located in Austria. The service is available in five languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian).

Hi i open a account in virwox.com yesterday i made a transaction from my Paypal 10$, then convert BTC then withdraw but its not completed. today i see my Paypal payment refunded and also account blocked. why?.. please oen my account as soon as possible.

Ordered some bitcoins, and I come back today to find that my account has been disabled. I did everything the way I was instructed. The weird thing is that I didn't even receive an email or anything telling me that my account was disabled or why. I'd be cautious with this website, it may or may not still be legit.

Same experience as others apparently. Opened an account, deposited, converted, tried to send where I needed but it never arrived. Contacted customer service and they cancelled everything, (supposedly) will give my money back in a week! Wtf is the point of this so called service?!

They have quite clear explanations on how to use them for buying/selling bitcoins here: virwox.info. Indeed you pay a premium (~10%), but the service is top quality compared to some other exchanges. In addition to this, they actually are based in Austira / EU and not some risky slavic or asian countries.

Hey,
Yesterday (9.12.2015) i deposited money from paypal to VirWox, and changed it into linden dollars and then into BTC. Then i requested the money to my wallet, and everything was alright. Tho the waiting time of 48 hrs is much, i dint find that as a problem. Then i found this website, with all negative feedback, and went to a little panic because i was afraid that they would fraud me as well. I quickly made refund application in paypal, where i complained about VirWox. Then they disabled my account, and i panicked. I did contact to VirWox support, and they answered me like 1 hour after i had sent the mail. They said that if you complain in paypal, the system will automaticly close your account at VirWox until you close the refund/complain application in paypal. Well i closed the application, and my account was immediately back in use, and i could log in. My BTC did arrive to my wallet like 3 hours after that, 11 hours after my WD request. The fees were really high, but VirWox did what they promised. I will probably use this site in the future as well! All you have to do is an decent message to support, and they will get back to you. Dont be rude.

deposited 100 usd, closed my account email me saying i never paid, email account is not banned they said i would be refunded in 7 days now been 12 business days and no one to contact and no responce when you email.... wtf what a scam! like the fee rape wasnt bad enough, just get on craigslist some one always selling on their fee free, just meet at starbucks or bank...... fuck virwox i hope you all choke on dicks and die fucking theifs

Spent 88 dollars worth of Linden to trans. to BTC and then tried to withdraw and waited for the 48 hour manual setup to be over and then my account was disabled and that my money had been refunded to my credit card. They didn't give me my bit coins back they gave me USD after it had already been transfered to BTC which tells me that somewhere in the user agreement there must be some type of clause that allows them to disable your account for the purpose of selling your already paid for bit coin for a higher price and then just returning you what you paid for them. Dont use this site its a scam for first timers

ive never had a problem with this site.. seriously.. i registered a month ago and have deposited via debit card and skrill.. coverted to bitcoin and got my coins every time without fail...i even sent ignorant messages to support the first time (because i didnt understand the process) and i was cocky about it.. they responded and everything went well

Hi,You all need to grow a brain and educate yourselves. Virvox is I think the only service that you can trade straightly with, that does not ask for intrusive and invasive identifying and they have to comply with US regulations or they could face criminal charges. There are certain wallet systems and websites that they have to be concerned about withdrawals to. If they don't, they end up like Coin.mx.
I don't believe they stole your money. If anything, they closed your account and you were refunded. Maybe there is some room for error but it is a thin margin and it doesn't even make economic sense for them to scam you. If you deposit and exchange to BTC, They get 10% just about. It makes much more sense for them to keep a client to get a constant 10% than to take someone's money.
