UpdateIn business since end of 2007, VirWox is today the the leading independent exchange for trading virtual currencies, both in terms number of users (about 100,000), and trading volume (2012: 29 million Euro / 38 million US$).
Currencies traded are Linden Dollars (the virtual currency used in Second Life), Avination's C$, and the Open Metaverse Currency (OMC). In April 2011, RED PAY LINE started accepting Bitcoin and enabled to trade bitcoins for Linden Dollars (both ways), which are in turn convertible to EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, and the other virtual currencies traded on VirWoX.
Other payment methods (deposit and withdrawal) include PayPal, Credit/Debit Cards via Skrill/Moneybookers, NETELLER, paysafecard, Ukash, SOFORTbanking, and bank transfers.
VirWox is run by the company Virtual World Services GmbH, which is located in Austria. The service is available in five languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian).

I will give them two stars. The reason why I won't give them one star is because I actually liked their interface, and I admit their system made it possible for me to actually purchase a small amount of bitcoin through a PayPal account! As a US citizen (apparently), my options are generally limited to actually buy crypto currencies. Companies like CoinMama, Coinbase, etc. require lengthy and somewhat difficult verification processes - I can't tell you how many times over the last week I find myself holding some document up to the computer camera, etc. So it was refreshing to actually be able to purchase bitcoin through a paypal account. And I didn't mind their interface. Having some trading experience, it was relatively easy for me to buy SLL's, and sell them for bitcoin. Hooray!UNTIL THEY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER! Hence, the two stars. So for about two days I actually owned BitCoin. Wow. And then came two $99 refunds and a message saying - sorry, we are refunding your money and closing your account. Just like that. No explanation - and no interest in seeking any kind of verification. Incredibly frustrating. I wrote to them - I don't really expect anything back, but if it's possible to do so, and they make it right, I'll update this or add another. Otherwise ... be prepared to get your account shut down for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Accused me of threatening them. I let them know that I would be issuing a PayPal dispute because they held my money and wouldn't let me withdraw it.
They closed my account as "high risk". The obviously smart move for them since PayPal disputes would ruin their reputation.

Wirvox.com are thieves and stole my money. I had only 30 Euros in my virwox account as test then I bought Bitcoinswith this amount and I tried to pay with bitcoin funds. No payment made and my money never went back
to my virwox account as failed transaction .I sent them (virwox)many mails and they are saying that
transaction completed.BUT WHERE IS my 30 EUROS ?? WHERE ? The payment never made and after this they closed
my virwox account also.BE AWARE.THEY ARE THIEVES

Site works like a charm - been using this service since 2011. Fees might be a bit higher than other sites BUT to turn your bitcoins into real cash they won't ask for any identifications: no passports, drivers licenses, no phone or utility bills to be sent in. There's an initial waiting period, but it's only AFTER you exchange to USD or EURO, so those are disconnected from any BTC price fluctuations. GREAT way to get my bitcoins out!

SKR*virwox.com has charged my debit card unlawfully for $ 90.00 and another $ 147.85. I have no idea where they got my debit card number and the CV number? I want to know where thsi company is registered so that I can get the appropriate authorities to investigate them. I would appreciate any body with any information on this company to share it with me. I warn NOBODY to use thsi compoany. They are a big fraud. They could have possibly used my debit card in two other large charges of $ 512.95 and $ 515.46. It sounds like they might be in Great Britain.
