I used the website to transfer $180 worth of ETH to BTC. I followed the instructions and sent the ETH to the address that was provided. I never revived my BTC. I contacted support and this is the response i got. Just to note I did use the proper website that was ShapeShift.io and sent the ETH to the provided address. It seems this company may be allowing some transfers to go through properly, but also making use of the hacking and phishing scam to reply as an effort to hide there direct involvement. I am new to cryptos and trying to learn and this was my first attempt at a transfer lol. Not fun. This was the shapeshift deposit address that was provided to me on their website. DO NOT SEND your money to them.

We're aware of fraudulent phishing sites which pretend to be ShapeShift.io in order to steal funds. Unfortunately this has become increasingly common as the prices of digital assets have increased. However, we are currently engaging with a brand protection vendor to take these sites down. These processes are already in place, and we anticipate a sharp reduction in fraudulent sites over the coming months.
However, it's important to always protect yourself. 1.) Bookmark https://shapeshift.io/ or carefully type in the address every time you visit. 2.) Never click on links in emails or slack/telegram groups, 3.) ALWAYS double-check that the URL at the top of your screen is in fact https://shapeshift.io/. Ads at the top of search results pages have been especially common. This may be a legitimate ShapeShift ad, but verify that the page you land on is actually https://shapeshift.io/. If it's not, leave the site immediately.

Incompetent and down right unprofessional. 10 days since placing a support ticket and still no contact with a so called support team member. These guys are a joke! If i lived near their offices i'd definitely be paying them a visit. Sermblije i may have to resort to lawyers!

Changing 250 SALT to XRP! Still awaiting exchange for the last 6 hours while ripple skyrockets. 3750 worth of salt at the moment. These people are absolute thieves. Do not use ever! After reading all these posts im pretty concerned. Especially considering that is the bulk of my portfolio.

It was okay at first, the exchanges were fast. But then they started to get REALLY greedy, I tried to exchange 0.01 BTC a couple of weeks ago, and the mining fee was more than the amount of BTC I had.

Like many other reviewers here, I never received my exchange (BTC to XRP) but they still charged me a $51 mining fee. On top of that, I had to pay a $22 fee to transfer my BTC into ShapeShift. So in total i paid $73 for nothing! I have to give them credit, they were quick to respond to my request. But, they maintain they can not refund the mining fee even though I never received my XRP. According to ShpeShifts website, the transaction showed to be completed and not failed. I explained this to them but they refuse to refund the mining fee. While I don't have an issue with paying a mining fee to get what I asked for, I have an issue with being charged a fee for nothing in return. It begs the question of whether or not ShapeShift is actually running the transaction, or just not completing it and keeping the fee? Needless to say, lesson learned and I will not be using them anymore!

DO NOT USE. I sent in $280 dollars worth of ETH to be exchanged into Reddcoin. I was in a rush for the McAfee pump. They did not clearly display the final amount I would receive anywhere, a basic function you would expect for any legitimate conversion agency. Anyways, what I received was the $110 in Redcoin. I lost $170! How can any conversion agency justify taking over 50% of a transactions value???? Total scam, DO NOT USE!!!

Never had a problem with these guys.. always got my coins, have used 7 plus times..the fees are a bit steep.

I used them to convert bitcoin to ripple. First time, it failed and sent my bitcoin back to my return address. I don't recall if fees were taken off. Tried it again a few days later, and this time they kept my bitcoin. I've sent a couple of support requests but no answer other than automated. I wouldn't touch this service again (obviously). There are enough exchanges out there, why take the risk with this one. Fortunately I was playing with relatively small money so not going to affect my life.

Shapeshift is definitely a scam! I think I lost $500! They don't do the exchange service, nor give my money back to me! They are always saying processing or your ticket will be responded to in 7 days. I used to exchange small amount of coins, but this time, I exchanged more ($500), and shapeshift just don't work! and don't refund me!
They shuold close their service.

Sent bitcoin to trade for ripple. Put in return address. Sent bitcoin didn't go through. Sent back to my Coinbase account and charged 60 bucks to FAIL. At least I got the coin back but, come on- charging for a no completion. Stupid. Unprofessional. I love the idea of the exchange but it should work. MAKE SURE TO PUT IN A RETURN ADDRESS ON YOUR COIN.They need to refund our fees for FAILING. Exchange is going to go under if they do not work with their customers. Sorry to hear that people are losing their coin. I put in a return address and got mine back. I hope they return everyone's coin and return fees for FAILING. Really bad business practice. If Shapshift cannot deliver then why the f@#k have the exchange open. At least Coinbase will close trading if there is a problem- Shapeshift just charges you and either keeps your crypto or sends it back with a hefty fee. REALLY BAD business practice.

My request order is 124755. Shift shape teams does not responding for the problem arise. They are saying within 48-72 hour we will solve the problem but no use. If this type of shape shift having the platform then they should close there service.

Criminally unreliable.I've had a few attempts with ShapeShift. One was delayed, but eventually refunded. The other went through quickly. I had good experiences with their customer support, even if it took them a few days to get back to me.
There's updates on their site warning about certain coins (BTC and ETH specifically). Okay, fair enough. My transfer is nothing to do with either of those coins, should be fine right?
Nope. Sent them a significant amount of one coins as it peaks. Confirmation on blockchain for nearly 24 hours now, their site still says its "awaiting deposit". No chance of a support response in a timely fashion. By the time I get a refund sorted this BS will cost me hundreds in rate changes.
If they're not scammers then they are criminally incompetent. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
