Where to begin, where to begin? I guess I should start at the beginning, so you know how it all begun... Christ, here we go: So HitBTC required two-factor authorization and another process involving uploading documents such as IDs and passports and a picture of yourself holding said self-identifying forms. It was tedious, but I got through it. However, HitBTC is not available in the US. I was not made aware of this until after a lengthy authorization process which was futile since it would not, obviously, be authenticated. And at the time, I was pretty much over the exchange and I was already exploring other options.
But this was not before I decided to attempt and move my cryptocurrency from their platform to my other wallet as the ICO I initially invested in made some significant strides in their technology, website, and app.
Along the process of my withdrawal I was met with a weird error which informed me the site was temporarily down. A quick reload helped resolve the issue, however, I could not replicate the error on any other portion of the website. This seems trivial and could be something specific to the withdrawal process, but it felt off. We'll come back 'round to it.
After finally setting up the address to receive my cryptocurrency — I was met with yet another error: the wallet address had to be added to a whitelist. But I think to myself, "Alright, I'll just add it and be on my way," not realizing the next hoop I would be forced to jump through like a circus animal.
Not only did I need to add the address to the whitelist—at the time of writing this—I now have to wait until the weekend is over to proceed with the withdrawal. But I am unconvinced I can actually get my cryptocurrency at this point.
The bit I mentioned earlier about the website error coupled with all my other issues starts to steer the ship into conspiracy territory. The website already has a two-factor authentication process, but I'm starting to get the feeling they don't want people to get their cryptocurrency off of their platform. They already have a high flat fees which—as far as I can tell—is not due to the market as they've claimed in the past time-and-time and again. And their customer service is nowhere to be found except for maybe responding to an email or two.
So I'd highly suggest avoiding HitBTC. The other reviews, are most likely fake as there is no in-depth analysis beyond, "Cool exchange". And it sounds like I'm being dramatic, but that's literally one of the reviews on here. Tread carefully, or your bitcoins (or whatever cryptocurrency) you use could be lost forever to them.
